HeartWorks StillWaters counseling program provides individual and group services for children, students, and families in and around Pamlico County. Confidentially offered at each public school, Arapahoe Charter School, at HeartWorks Safe Harbor Youth Center, and at our StillWaters facility in Bayboro, this in-school and in-program counseling opportunity helps parents overcome the significant barrier of transporting a child to appointments and ensures that the students most in need of these services receive them. For referrals or information, please call 252-745-4510 or go to the “STILLWATERS COUNSELING” tab on this website and click the appropriate referral link.

HeartWorks’ largest offering, our 21st Century Community Learning Center Afterschool and Summer Learning Program has grown in scope and volume to better serve 250 students each year. Programming includes academic lessons, life skills development, the promotion of positive physical and mental health, and family advocacy. By providing children and their families with affordable and effective resources in these areas we can achieve our overall goal of promoting a community that serves as the shelter of each other. Through HeartWorks family advocacy initiatives, we strive to promote positive parenting skills, reduce violence and anger in family members, and involve parents/guardians in the daily activities of their children. It is from the efforts and outreach of all of our programs that we hope to explore the dynamics of our most troubled families and provide the guidance and resources needed to stop the cycles of poverty, abuse, and violence. From consistent contact with parents and guardians and an increased number of family activities, positive results are possible.
